New Taipei's Circular Metro Line Set for Phased Reopening After Earthquake

Following the Hualien earthquake, the New Taipei City Government has
announced a phased reopening of the Circular Metro Line, with the Banqiao to
New Taipei Industrial Park section already operational.

The Zhonghe to Dapinglin section is expected to resume on Monday April 8th,
pending safety inspections and reinforcement of misaligned steel beams.

Mayor Hou Yu-ih emphasized ongoing efforts to ensure the metro's seismic
resilience and the implementation of protective measures in affected
segments.

The city has also initiated free bus shuttles to accommodate commuters.

The reopening of more severely damaged sections will follow extensive expert
review to guarantee safety.
