Man Arrested After Firing Gun Inside Lobby of Digital Ministry

Police in Taipei say 54-year-old man who fired shots after breaking into the Ministry of Digital Affairs office in Taipei remains in custody.
According to the ministry, the man entered the first-floor lobby of its office in Yanping South Road and shouted anti-government slogans before firing shots from one of the guns he was carrying.
The gun fire shattered the glass of the ministry's main entrance and damaged an adjacent wall, but no one was injured.
The man then attempted to go upstairs towards the ministry's main offices but was stopped by security guards.
He then walked out of the building, dropped the gun and bag he was carrying and surrendered to the police officers who had just arrived at the scene.
Police recovered a shotgun and a hand gun as well as ammunition for both weapons.
The suspect reportedly owns bed-and-breakfast near Cingjing Farm in Nantou County's Renai Township.
He's facing possible charges of violating the Controlling Guns, Ammunition and Knives Act and the Criminal Code.
