New Taipei Offers Subsidies for Asbestos Material Cleanup

New Taipei's Environmental Protection Department has announced subsidies for
residents to remove old asbestos building materials, now regulated as toxic
chemicals.

Recognizing the health risks posed by improperly handled asbestos fibers, the
government has regulated asbestos since 1989.

To encourage the safe disposal of this hazardous material, the department has
secured funding for a subsidy program.

Residents with old asbestos materials in their homes and wishing to have them
removed can apply for assistance until October 31st.
