Over 200 Taiwanese tourists came close to being stranded on Vietnam's Phu Quoc island due to a pay dispute between travel agencies.
According to reports, the tourists booked tour group packages with the "We Love Tour" company, headquartered in Taipei.
But after arriving in Vietnam, the local travel agency WInnER notified them that each individual had to pay the equivalent of an additional 720 US dollars.
WInnER International Travel Co. claimed that We Love Tour had failed to transfer sufficient funds.
Taiwan's Tourism Administration reports over 100 of the 292 impacted tourists paid the extra payment to continue their trips.
We Love Tour released a statement refuting WInnER's claims and pledged to resolve the issue while covering any losses incurred by its customers.
Recent reports suggest the Taiwanese travelers are being allowed to finish the tour of Phu Quoc Island.
