Taiwan Railways has embarked on a new journey as the Taiwan Railways Corporation, with Chairperson Du Wei stating that while ticket prices remain unchanged for now, a review for potential adjustments is slated for this year.
Celebrating its evolution from a 136-year legacy, the corporation held an official ceremony to mark the occasion.
Amidst speculations, Du Wei clarified that the recent wave of retirements and resignations is manageable, and the company has recruited additional staff to ensure uninterrupted service during the Spring Festival.
Emphasizing financial stability, Du Wei noted that the corporation is taking a fresh financial start, with previous debts of around 170 billion NT being handled by a repayment fund. The corporation is optimistic about turning its cash flow positive by 2026 and achieving overall profitability by 2028.
