Rare Snowfall Hits Southern China Amid Deep Freeze Across the Country

China is experiencing a wave of cold weather, bringing rare snowfall to
Guangdong in the south, while northern regions face near-record low
temperatures.

The unexpected chill has disrupted transportation, including a train brake
failure in Beijing.

Despite earlier forecasts of a warmer winter due to El Nino, the current
conditions have proven more severe, with temperatures dropping below zero in
the north.

In Guangdong, snow blanketed a mountain near Guangzhou, with temperatures in
the province dipping lower than usual.

Beijing's temperatures neared historic lows for December, and Shanghai saw
snow flurries.

The cold snap is expected to continue until Thursday, affecting northern
areas and regions around the Yangtze River.

The severe weather has also led to over 50 tourists being trapped in cable
cars in Zhejiang province due to windy conditions, although all were safely
rescued.
