Taitung to Increase Birth Subsidies

Taitung County will soon begin offering more subsidies for parents who give
birth.

The Taitung County government announced today that financial assistance for
new parents will be increased from the current $30-thousand NT, to
$40-thousand NT next year.

County Magistrate Yao Ching-ling says the increase will take effect Janary
1st, 2024, with $40-thousand for a first child, and $45-thousand for a second
child.

In addition, a third child or more, will each receive $50-thousand.

The magistrate says Taitung County is the only part of Taiwan that saw
positive growth in its birth rate last year, and the trend looks set to
continue this year.
