KMT's Hou Yu-ih Proposes Middle-Way for Taiwan's Governance

KMT presidential candidate Hou Yu-ih advocates a "middle-way approach" to
governance in Taiwan.

This strategy aims to unify people across political and ethnic divides,
fostering a prosperous future for the Republic of China (Taiwan).

In his interview with CTS, Hou emphasized aligning the '1992 consensus' with
Taiwan's laws and Constitution.

This framework suggests mutual governance rights without recognizing each
other's sovereignty.

Hou reiterated his opposition to both Taiwan's independence and Beijing's
'one country, two systems' formula.

As the mayor of New Taipei City, he stresses the importance of dialogue based
on equality and dignity to prevent escalating cross-strait tensions.

Since the DPP's rise to power in 2016 and its rejection of the '1992
consensus,' official communications with China have ceased, a situation Hou
aims to change if elected.
