Environment Minister Xue Fu-sheng is in Dubai for the COP28 meeting.
According to the Ministry of Environment, Xue is leading a delegation of other government officials to the United Nations's annual climate change conference.
Taiwan hasn't been formally invited to attend the conference, but officials are attending peripheral meetings and holding talks on the sidelines of the event.
The environment minister says he's been highlighting Taiwan's plans to reach climate goals and showcasing the government's resolution to pursue efforts to limit the average global temperature rise.
Xue says he's also been emphasizing the good results that Taiwan has achieved in carbon reduction and touting the island's expanding of its renewable energy capacity as part of the goal to reach COP28 targets by 2050.
The environment minister further says he's also been calling on the U-N to recognize Taiwan's contributions to tackling climate change... and pushing Taiwan's case to be able to participate in the summit.
