In India, opposition parties in Parliament staged a walk-out yesterday to protest Prime Minister Narendra Modi's refusal to address spiralling ethnic violence in Manipur state.
The opposition had tabled a no-confidence vote in Modi to force him speak about the crisis in the far-eastern state, which many have described as approaching civil war.
However, Modi did not touch on the crisis until opposition lawmakers began to walk out in protest, 90 minutes into his speech.
Even then, India's leader had few words about Manipur, simply promising that peace would be restored soon.
The Modi government's huge majority in Parliament meant the no-confidence motion was defeated, as expected.
