MODA Touts Taiwan Partnership with SES on Satellite Communications

The Ministry of Digital Affairs says it plan to partner with Luxembourg-based
satellite provider S-E-S on a project aimed at improving the resiliency of
Taiwan's digital communications networks.

The ministry says the project includes the establishment of 773 satellite
terminals both here in Taiwan and overseas by the end of next year.

The announcement comes after the digital ministry launched a program earlier
this year for the digital resilience validation of emerging technologies for
contingency or wartime applications.

That program aims to confirm the feasibility of using a nonsynchronous
satellite network as an emergency backup network.

S-E-S is the second satellite operator to be linked to Taiwan's digital
resilience project, after the UK-based OneWeb.
