Documentary photographer Pan Hsiao-Hsia has passed away at the age of 69.
Culture Minister Shi Zhe issued a statement conveying his regret at the loss, saying that Pan "wrote" Taiwan's social movements through his lens, recording critical moments in the island's development.
Shi says the Ministry of Culture will present a commendation to honor Pan, for his contributions to creating a visual history of Taiwan.
The minister says Pan's works are also part of collections at the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts, and the National Photography Cultural Center.
Pan was awarded the 40th Wu San-Lien Award in 2017, for his contributions to the arts.
