The Tai-Ex continued to hover at the 17,200 point mark in early trading this morning - despite losing some ground after the main board ended Tuesday's session at a 14-month high.
The market fell 34-points shortly after opening as investors reacted to a 0.24-per cent decline in Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing's American depository receipts overnight.
T-S-M-C saw its share price open down 3 N-T to stand at 590 N-T - which resulted in the company's market value shrinking by 77.7-billion N-T - and that decline negatively affected the Tai-Ex by about 24 points.
Other tech heavyweights including Hon Hai also lost ground this morning - but shipping and tourism related stocks attracted strong investor interest.
