Deputy Taipei Mayor Lin Yi-hua took office today, more than one month after other Taipei city government's political appointees did so.
Lin immediately meets with Mayor Chiang Wan-an to discuss the details of Taiwan Lantern Festival, her top priority at the moment.
All the lights, mainly located at the Sun Yet-sun Memorial Hall plaza and around the Taipei City Hall, have been installed and arrangements for the Festival's opening ceremony on Sunday are underway.
Asked how she and the other Deputy Mayor Li Si-chuan will divide their work, Lin says she'll focus more on what she called "software", like education, long-term medical care and childcare, while Li's expertise is on hardware such as construction.
Lin resigned from her job as KMT lawmaker yesterday, saying that it's a decision that she and Chiang made together so that she could use the time to wrap up her legislative work.
