Transport Minister Wang Guo-cai is urging Evergreen Group to take good care
of its employees

Answering news media's quetions, Wang says while Evergreen Airline Services
Corporation didn't make much profits in 2022, the conglomerate should help
deal with its subsidiary's problems.

Meanwhile Taoyuan Mayor Zhang Shan-zheng says his government will try to
mediate the disputes between the EVA airline's ground crew and the management
when necessary.

The Taoyuan Labor Affairs Bureau's officials went to the company's workers'
union to express their concerns after about one hundred cargo and baggage
handlers and cleaners employed by Evergreen Airline Services took a
collective day-off yesterday in protest of lower-than-expected year-end
bonus.

Their action meant some two hours of delay of the airline's flights at
Taoyuan International Airport.

The delays have continued today, with EVA Airways reporting an average of 30
minutes delay for it 25 flights before noon due to the ground crew's ongoing
protests

According to the union, they only received one month of salary in bonus, far
less than the shipping company Evergreen Marine's 45 months' salary.

Evergreen Services, Evergreen Marine and EVA Airways are all subsidiaries of
the Evergreen Group.
