Retail sales, food/beverage revenue grow in November
Posted on 2022-12-26 17:05:13
Taiwan has seen retail sales and revenue from its food and beverage industry
rise once again.

Data from the Ministry of Economic Affairs shows the November retail sales
rose 1.4 percent from a year earlier, to 382 billion NT, marking the 15th
consecutive month of a year-on-year increase.

Revenue posted by restaurants, beverage vendors and other food suppliers,
meanwhile, hit its November high of 76 billion NT, up 13.3 percent from a
year earlier, marking the seventh straight month of year-on-year growth.

The M.O.E.A. says the sales increase was likely sparked by either the "Double
11" shopping day, or the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

It adds that retail sales are expected to reach around 4.26 trillion NT for
2022, up around 7 percent from a year earlier.

However, in the wake of a relatively high comparison base in 2022, growth in
retail sales and revenue in the food and beverage industry are likely to
moderate in 2023.
