The Central Weather Bureau says the lowest temperature in low lying areas of
Taiwan proper this morning was recorded in Taoyuan's Yangmei District, where
the mercury dropped to 16.5-degrees.

The mercury fell to 16.7-degrees Guanyin District, while areas of New Taipei
and Hsinchu saw the early morning temperature drop to 17-degrees.

The drop in temperature comes as a northeasterly wind system is affecting
much of the island today.

According to weather bureau conditions are expected to improve on Thursday,
but it will be still be cooler overnight and in the early morning.
