Mushrooms shipped from China have been halted at the border once again.
The Food and Drug Administration says 5-thousand-100 kg of poplar mushrooms, imported from two different Chinese vendors, were found to contain the insecticide Fipronil, fipronil metabolites, as well as the pesticide Lufeneron
In addition, a batch of anter mushrooms also imported from China tested positive for excessive levels of the pesticide procymidone.
All such problematic imports must be returned to the sender or destroyed.
This comes after multiple shipments of Lion's Mane mushrooms were flagged for excessive pesticide residue.
The FDA has given China until August 3rd to provide a written explanation, or imports of the mushrooms will be halted.
