An international physicians organization has called on the World Health Organization to facilitate the meaningful participation of Taiwan at the upcoming World Health Assembly in May.
The World Medical Association says it sent an open letter sent to WHO Secretary-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus on April 19-th, and said Taiwan's participation would be more than "just one more at the table, it would be a clear signal for a peaceful cooperation on the international level."
The letter goes on to request that the WHO grant Taiwan observer status to the 75th WHA from May 22nd to 28th, and ensures its participation in all its health programs on a substantive, timely, and professional basis.
The WMA said in their letter that "it is now more than ever necessary to open the doors of the United Nations bodies, especially the WHO," amid the increasing use of aggression... as a tool by some world leaders to resolve disputes."
