Much-delayed Taipei Twin Towers project is expected to start construction work at the end of this year.
The project cleared the city's Urban Planning Council yesterday with some conditions.
The Department of Rapid Transit Systems says adjustments will be made based on the Council's demands in alleviating impact to the environment and traffic.
It plans to apply for building licenses in April and once that's granted, construction work can soon begin.
The project had failed to secure an appropriate bidder five times before Taipei Mayor Ko Wen-zhe finally signed a contract with Clevo Computer and its affiliate Hongwell Group in December, 2019.
The D-O-R-T-S says a Taipei MRT line will go through the basement of the two towers, one 76- floors high and the other, 56 floors.
Construction should complete in the summer of 2026, at a cost of 60.6 billion NT.
