Kaohsiung Announces New Traffic Infrastructure

Kaohsiung is making upgrades to its transportation infrastructure.

The city's Transportation Bureau says it will begin major projects to help
residents get around Kaohsiung next year.

The bureau says traffic lights at 80 intersections will be outfitted with
uninterruptible power sources, so that traffic at main thoroughfares continue
to flow during blackouts.

In addition, the city will begin construction of a 5-story parking tower in
Sanming District, incorporating green design and smart systems.

The facilities are expected to be ready for use by the end of next year.
