Members of Afghanistan's women soccer team have arrived in Pakistan.
Officials and local media say an unspecified number of Afghan women players and their family members were allowed to enter in Pakistan, after apparently fleeing their country for security reasons.
Pakistan's information minister said in a tweet that the players held valid travel documents.
He added, quote, "We welcome Afghanistan women football team".
Pakistan's English-langue The DAWN newspaper reports that the Afghan female footballers were issued emergency humanitarian visas to evacuate them from Afghanistan.
That's following the takeover of Kabul by the Taliban, who reportedly don't want women to participate in sports.
