Taiwan's Foreign Affairs Minister and National Security Council Secretary-General, as well as the American Institute in Taiwan Director have kept mum about their one-week trip to the U.S.
Joseph Wu, Wellington Koo and AIT Director Sandra Oudkirk all came back yesterday evening and left Taoyuan International Airport immediately after taking a PCR test.
According to a Financial Times report, Wu and Koo were holding "Special Channel" talks with senior U.S. officials in Annapolis, Maryland.
The Special Channel talks, also known as U.S.-Taiwan Strategic Dialogue or Monterey Talks, are annual discussions about military affairs between the two sides.
Taiwan usually sends the Deputy N-S-C Secretary General and Defense Ministry and Mainland Affairs Council officials to these meetings, but not the Foreign Minister.
According to local media, this year's meeting did not include the issue of changing Taiwan office's name in Washington D.C. to Taiwan Representative Office from the current Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office.
