Local vaccine producer Medigen says it has officially applied to conduct Phase 3 clinical trials of its coronavirus vaccine in Paraguay.
Medigen's vaccine completed Phase 2 trials early last month and has since applied for emergency use authorization here in Taiwan.
The company says it filed the request to conduct Phase 3 clinical trials with Paraguay's National Health Surveillance Authority earlier this week.
The Phase 3 clinical trials will be conducted in cooperation with the Faculty of Medical Sciences at the National University of Asuncion.
And Medigen says the test will be carried out through immunobridging to compare the vaccine's overall level of protection with that of the AstraZeneca vaccine.
Medigen has not provided a timetable for completion of the Phase 3 clinical trial in Paraguay.
According to the company, it is also in talks with other international health regulatory authorities and is planning to conduct more Phase 3 clinical trials in other countries.
