Taiwan's national basketball team has been routed 115-66 by China in their first match-up in the delayed third and final window of the 2021 FIBA Asia Cup Qualifiers.
The qualifiers are taking place in Angeles City in the Philippines and were originally slated be held in February, but were postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Taiwan's team is made of players from colleges and the semi-pro Super Basketball League and the loss to China gives Taiwan a 1 and 2 record in Group B, which also includes Malaysia, Japan, and China.
Twenty-four teams are competing in six groups, with the top two teams in each group qualifying for the 2021 FIBA Asia Cup.
Teams finishing third in each group will still have a chance to qualify for the Asia Cup at a tournament in Indonesia in August.
Taiwan plays Japan today before facing China again on Sunday.
