Wu: Taiwan, US Working on Easing Exchanges Restrictions
Posted on 2021-04-08 15:13:04
Foreign Minister Joseph Wu says Taiwan and the US are in talks on how to increase bilateral exchanges.
Lawmakers have asked whether the Biden administration would ease existing restrictions on high-level meetings and visits between Taipei and Washington.
Wu says US officials are working to remove outdated limitations on exchanges, and that is the focus of current talks.
However, the details of any easing are still being worked out.
Wu does expect there to be new regulations allowing Taiwanese and American representatives to other countries to participant in the same events, or to meet at the other's representative office.
