Hualian Prosecutors have started questioning defendant Li Yi-xiang, the main suspect involved in last week's deadly train crash.
Li has been detained incommunicado for four days, and prosecutors have also requested to detain Li's possible accomplice Hua Wen-hao.
Hua, an absconded Vietnamese migrant worker, was arrested yesterday and is listed as the second defendant.
According to media reports based on Transportation Safety Board's investigations, the maintenance truck that Li drove into the construction site got stuck in a bush above the slope, so he left the truck and got on an excavator to try to move the truck.
But the excavator somehow lost its grip on the truck, causing it to slide down onto the railway track.
A little over one minute later, the Taroko 408 train hit the truck and crashed into Qing-shui Tunnel, killing 50 and injuring 211.
The T-S-B also said there was another person at the scene, but prosecutors have declined to confirm whether that person is the migrant worker.
