The new Mainland Affairs Council chairman says the 1992 Consensus is unacceptable after China gave it new interpretations.
Qiu Tai-san, who assumes office today, says he really doesn't understand why China described the 92 Consensus as One Country, Two Systems, adding that it would only have negative effects on bilateral relations.
Qiu also says Taiwan's government and the M-A-C "have never harbored any malice toward China," adding that all Taiwan's policies aimed for better interactions.
Noting there's a lack of mutual trust between Taiwan and China now, he hopes to build such trust during his tenure as M-A-C chairman.
Qiu served as Justice Minister and National Security Council chief consultant before taking the current job.
