The Central Weather Bureau says the warmer weather that began being felt across the island yesterday will likely only last until tomorrow, as more northeasterly winds are forecast to begin affecting the north over the weekend.
The mercury rose to highs of over 20 degrees on Wednesday, despite several of the weather bureau's monitoring stations recording new lows for this winter overnight and into the early morning.
The lowest temperature in low lying areas was recorded in Miaoli County, where monitoring stations recorded temperatures of 1.5-degrees.
According to the weather bureau's forecast center, we can expect clear skies today and tomorrow, with highs of around 25-degrees pretty much islandwide.
However, evening temperatures will be markedly lower and see the mercury sitting at between 11 and 14-degrees.
Fresh northeasterly winds are expected to arrive on Saturday and the weather bureau is warning that a cold front on Sunday could see the mercury in parts of the north dropping to lows of 10-degrees once again.
