Cisco Systems says it plans to open a software development center in New
Taipei's Linkou District, making the facility the first of its kind for the
company in the Asia-Pacific region.

According to the American I-T, networking and cybersecurity solutions
provider, the center is scheduled to be inaugurated after the Lunar New Year
holiday.

Cisco Taiwan's chief technology officer Robert Feng says the software
development center will house tech start-ups from around Taiwan and is
expected to help them speed up the pace of product development.

Feng says the center will be focusing on rolling out solutions for
information security by integrating the resources of Cisco and the start-ups
in the initial stages, but will team up with the start-ups to push for new
applications in the global market in the long term.
