New Taipei to Provide Additional Quarantine Rooms Ahead of Lunar New Year

The New Taipei City Government says it will be providing an additional 478
quarantine rooms from today to meet the expected increase in demand for
isolation accommodation ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday.

Local authorities says the new rooms are mainly for New Taipei residents
returning home.

The measure follows the implementation of stricter home quarantine
regulations in response to the emergence of a new variant of the coronavirus
first detected in the U-K.

And starting tomorrow, homes can only be used for quarantine purposes if the
person in quarantine is the sole inhabitant of the residence.

According to the New Taipei Tourism and Travel Department, with the
additional 478 quarantine rooms, a total of 1,462 rooms are now available to
registered residents of New Taipei or the outlying islands.
