A humanitarian flight from Guam has arrived in Taiwan.
China Airlines operated the special charter flight to bring 47 people to the country.
Among the passengers are five Guam residents who require medical treatment in Taiwan, and four are their family members.
Other passengers are Taiwan nationals returning home from Guam and nearby Saipan.
All of the passengers will now enter the mandatory quarantine period.
Direct flights between the two islands was suspended last year following the outbreak of the coronvirus pandemic.
Guam Governor Lourdes Guerrero has thanked Taiwan's representative office there for helping to arrange the flight.
She says the pandemic has highlighted how important it is for Guam to develop ties with other countries, and she called the relationship between Taiwan and Guam very precious.
