NFTU: More Help Needed for Disabled
Posted on 2019-12-03 14:07:13
The National Federation of Teachers Unions is calling for more assistance for
people with physical and mental disabilities.

Speaking on the International Day of Disabled Persons, Federation officials
say the government here has taken steps to help such people, but it is not
enough.

They say that people with disabilities still face troubles receiving
education or finding jobs.

The federation notes that many cities and counties do not allow special-needs
students to be in normal classes with other students.

They also say there is a lack of trained teachers for these students, with a
ratio of about 1 teacher for every 100 special needs student.

On employment, the federation says laws mandate a certain proportion of
employees with disabilities, but it makes no provisions for a barrier-free
working environment for them.

The federation is calling on the government to pay more attention to these
issues.
