Taipei Mayor Brushes Off DPP Primary Results
Posted on 2019-06-13 19:06:14
The Taipei mayor is dismissing the results of the DPP primary.

When asked by a KMT city councillor what he thought about incumbent President
Tsai Ing-wen's win, Ko Wen-ju merely replied, "it's just a poll, it doesn't
have anything to do with us. I don't have anything to say."

Ko is still refusing to confirm whether or not he intends to run for
president in 2020, saying today that he would discuss it when the time comes.

Meanwhile, the Taipei mayor also responded to a report yesterday that the
Chinese Taiwan Affair's Office had praised him for his stance on cross-strait
relations when Ko said both sides are part of one family.

Ko said it was a strange thing for the TAO to do and made him feel

However, the mayor did not back down from his statement, saying the idea the
people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait are of one family is not a
political statement but an expression of a peaceful attitude and the
willingness to show good will.
