Organizer of Pro-Nuclear Power Referendum Says He Won't be Fooled by CEC

The organizer of the pro-nuclear power referendum petition, so far the only
one that the Central Election Commission has deemed as invalid, says he won't
submit additional signatures.

Huang Shi-xiu says instead he's demanding that the C-E-C publicize the nearly
10-thousand letters that the Commission claimed to bear no signature or seal.

Huang says that while he did anticipate that the CEC would go to any length
to stop the referendum from happening, he wants to see who would submit a
letter without a signature.

The CEC announced earlier today that of the 314-thousand signatures Huang
submitted, 35-thousand are invalid with one third of them lacking a

That means the petition narrowly missed the threshold of 281-thousand
required by law.

Huang, who went on a hunger strike on September 13th for 5 days after the CEC
rejected his second submittal of 24-thousand additional signatures without
giving legitimate reasons, says he won't be fooled by the Commission again
when it said today that he can send in supplemental signatures within 30

Huang says even if he does so, the proposal won't make it onto the list of
referendums that will go along with the November 24th elections.
