MOEA: Electricity Price to Rise 2025
Posted on 2018-10-12 16:06:14
The Ministry of Economic Affairs is anticipating a rise in electricity prices
in the year 2025.

The MOEA says the shuttering of plans for the Shen-Ao Power Plant means the
amount of electrictiy generated by natural gas will have to be increased, to
meet Taiwan's energy demands.

This means by 2025, when the government plans to make the island
nuclear-free, just over 50-percent of electricity will be generated by
natural gas, 30 percent by coal, and 20 percent by renewable energy sources.

Officials say this increased demand will lead to price hike of 1-percent, or
0.03 NT.
