New Bills on Middle-aged, Elderly Employment
Posted on 2018-07-12 14:55:14
The Ministry of Labor has drafted a new bill to protect the employment rights
of older people.

The bill sets out fines of up to 1.5 million NT against employers that
discriminate against the middle-aged or elderly.

Under the bill, companies cannot treat older people differently when it comes
to pay, hiring, or firing.

If such employees raise a complaint that is ignored, the employers could also
be fined up to 300 thousand NT.

The central government will craft subsidies to encourage employers to hire
middle-aged or elderly employees, but details of those have yet to be worked
out.
