William Lai Says Cabinet Shuffle a Shift in Admin. Focus
Posted on 2018-07-12 14:55:13
Premier William Lai is commenting on the rumours of a cabinet shuffle.

Lai says the top priority for the Cabinet is implementation of government
policies.

This will be the biggest Cabinet reshuffle of his term, and the premier says
he expects the new team to provide better services for the people and push
for higher efficiency.

Lai says during the first phase of the Tsai Administration, the focus was on
changes in law, special budget and development projects, and now they will
concentrate on carrying out those decisions.

He adds that the reason for a Cabinet reshuffle right now is because several
ministers, including Interior Minister Ye Jun-rong, told him that they had
achieved what they set out to do and would like to leave.

Even so, Ye will stay in the Cabinet to take over the office of Education
Minister, which has been vacant for one and a half months.

In response, National Taiwan University is urging the new Education Minister
to respect college autonomy and the university's choice of Guan Zhong-min as
its President based on the College Act.
