Posted on 2018-06-14 09:23:13
President Tsai Ing-wen is thanking the United States for is its continuing
support for Taiwan as Beijing unilaterally seeks to change the cross-strait
status quo.

Speaking during a meeting with American Institute in Taiwan Chairman James
Moriarty, Tsai said recent moves by China to pressure Taiwan diplomatically
and militarily are attempts to disrupt peace and stability in cross-strait

According to Tsai, these actions have heightened regional tensions, but the
U-S has consistently spoken up for Taiwan in the name of justice in response
to the pressure exerted by China.

Tsai told Moriarty that passage of the Taiwan Travel Act will enhance ties,
create more benefits for peoples of both sides, and further consolidate
mutual trust and cooperation between Taipei and Washington.

And she went on to say that a number of senior U-S officials have visited
Taiwan after adoption of the travel act and a large delegation of Taiwan
business leaders will visit the U-S later this month to attend the Select USA
