AmCham Taipei Commends Taiwan's Progress on their Recommendations
Posted on 2018-06-06 14:44:13
The American Chamber of Commerce in Taipei is commending Taiwan for its
progress on their 2017 recommendations.

According to AmCham's 2018 white paper released today, the Tsai
Administration made the most improvements on its recommendations since the
chamber started following these issues in 2004.

In the 2017 white paper, AmCham listed 83 areas that needed work, and in this
year's report the chamber says the government has solved 11 of those, while
21 others have seen good progress.

For some context, in 2016, AmCham recommended 80 items that needed work and
not a single one was fixed, while only 8 saw improvements.

However, chamber director William Foreman says Taiwan's economy has still not
realized its full potential, and the true test will be to see if the
government can come up with concrete solutions to these 21 issues within the
next few months.

As for this year's recommendations, AmCham says the administration needs to
encourage its agencies to be more innovative, come up with new ways to solve
labor law issues, invite large-scale private investment, increase
transparency in the creation of Taiwan's regulations, and guarantee a stable
and sufficient power supply.
