Ma acquitted of leaking classified information
Posted on 2017-10-12 08:19:14
The Taiwan High Court has upheld a lower court ruling in favor of former
President Ma Ying-jeou - acquitting him of leaking classified information.

The case was related to the 2013 investigation into D-P-P lawmaker, Ker
Jien-ming.

Ker had accused Ma of leaking state secrets in the case.

However, the High Court Wednesday ruled that Ker failed to provide sufficient
evidence to prove the allegations.

Neither Ma nor Ke were at the court for the verdict.

But a spokesperson for the office of the former president told reporters that
Ma was grateful for the ruling.

While Ker has accused the court of deliberately failing to review all the
evidence and says he plans to appeal the verdict, despite the high court
saying its ruling is final and cannot be appealed.
