Don’t forget to vote in the midterms this November! Americans living abroad can still make their voice heard with ease.
To vote, first go to request an absentee ballot. Many states allow you to do this online or via email.
If your state requires you to mail it, the American Institute in Taiwan (AIT) can mail your ballot for free. AIT’s absentee ballot box , located inside AIT’s consular entrance on Jinhu Road, is open Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 4 PM. The AIT Kaohsiung branch offers the same service. Remember: Your ballot must be placed in a "postage paid" return envelope. AIT can not accept absentee ballots without the proper US postage.
Although some states require you to send your ballot by mail, you can choose to receive your ballot via email or fax. We recommend this as it greatly reduces wait time for your ballot.
Once you receive your ballot, follow the FVAP.gov instructions carefully and return it in time to be counted by Tuesday, November 3rd. We recommend sending it back by October 13th at the latest.
If your absentee ballot does not arrive in time, some states allow you to fill out a Federal Write-in Absentee Ballot.
Once you send your ballot, you can check on FVAP.gov if it has been received.
If you have questions regarding voting, registering, your state’s specific laws, your local election office or your registration, go to FVAP.gov.
