Economics Minister Wang Mei-hua is in Japan this week, as head of a delegation aimed at deepening the partnership between the two countries.
The minister is also expected to lay the groundwork for a Taiwan-Japan technology partnership.
As part of her itinerary, Wang is slated to preside over the opening of a three-day Taiwan Expo in Tokyo later today.
The economics ministry says the expo is the first ever to be held in Japan and will showcase quality products from Taiwan in the hope of boosting two-way exchanges.
The economics minister is also expected to attend the Japan-Taiwan Semiconductor Forum today... where she'll be participating in activities marking the 50th anniversary of the Hsinchu-based Industrial Technology Research Institute.
The economics ministry further added that Wang will also be promoting the digital economy and low-carbon economies.
