New Jersey has chosen Taiwan for their Asia-Pacific Economic and Trade Office.
The announcement was made yesterday by the US state’s Governor Phil Murphy, who is leading a delegation to Taiwan.
In a meeting with Murphy, President Tsai expressed gratitude and highlighted the growing trade between Taiwan and New Jersey, which now generates revenues of $4 billion US dollars yearly.
She pointed out that New Jersey’s key location in the eastern US market, and its strength in the biotech and telecom industries, make it a good choice for Taiwanese investors.
Governor Murphy added that New Jersey’s Taiwanese community is the fourth largest in the US, and Taiwanese students are one of the largest groups of international students in New Jersey.
He vowed to keep working to strengthen the partnership between his state and Taiwan.
