AIT Chair 'Looking Forward to Meeting' Presidential Candidates

American Institute in Taiwan Chair Laura Rosenberger has arrived in Taiwan
for a six-day visit.

It's her second visit to Taiwan since she assumed the post on March 20.

Rosenberger says she plans to meet -- and spend time -- with each of the
presidential candidates during her trip; she's also reiterated that
Washington will cooperate with whichever candidate wins January's election.

Rosenberger also said she's looking forward to further "engaging with leaders
from across Taiwan's political spectrum".

The new A-I-T chair says that the United States would not take sides and it
would oppose outside interference or influence in Taiwan's elections.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs says Rosenberger will also be meeting with
senior government officials this week.
