Mandated Home Visits for Registered Private Nannies to Increase
Posted on 2024-04-26 08:15:13
The Ministry of Health says it intends to amend the guidelines governing
mandated home visits for registered private nannies.

According to the ministry, the move will increase the frequency in high risk
cases from four to six times a year or more in certain cases.

The Social and Family Affairs Administration says the proposed amendments
have been discussed by experts, local governments and civic groups and are
currently under administrative review.

Any amendments are expected to be announced officially by the end of this
month and could be implemented in May at the earliest.

The proposed amendments are in response to a child abuse case that came to
light in early March, in which a 1-year-old boy placed in foster care was
allegedly abused for over three months.

The child died in December last year of abuse related injuries.

The foster carer and her sister were indicted in April.
