New Taipei Eases Urban Renewal Rules Following Earthquake Damage
Posted on 2024-04-24 16:07:14
The New Taipei City government has announced measures to facilitate the rebuilding of 21 earthquake-damaged buildings by relaxing urban renewal thresholds.
The consent requirement for rebuilding has been lowered to 80-percent, and the allowable reconstruction volume increased to 1.5 times the original floor area.
Additionally, for urban renewal projects in designated areas, the consent threshold has been reduced from 80 to 50-percent.
These changes aim to accelerate the reconstruction process and enhance safety.
The city's response follows the damage sustained by residential buildings and over 200 school facilities due to the recent Hualien earthquake.
Further support will include subsidies for structural reinforcements and facade repairs, ensuring residents can return to safer living conditions more quickly.
