Premier promises prompt assistance to Hualien residents

Premier Chen Jian-ren has promised prompt assistance for Hualien's recovery
and restoration.

He says the central government will present its plans for revitalizing local
industries and rebuilding collapsed or high-risk buildings as soon as
possible.

The Premier also says that relevant agencies will closely cooperate with the
local government and offer adequate help.

Noting that there are currently over 4,000 urban renewal projects approved
nationwide, Chen says the Cabinet revised the urban renewal laws from 2018 to
2021 with the aim of speeding up the procedures.

He also says the National Housing and Urban Regeneration Center is pushing
hard for old and dangerous buildings' reconstruction and will offer
incentives to make the process more smooth.
