Officer Commits Suicide at Taipei Precinct

A 37-year old police officer at Taipei's Zhongzheng First Precinct was found
with a fatal head injury today.

He was found unresponsive with a gunshot wound in the precinct's basement,
with his service weapon at the scene.

Despite immediate emergency response and transport to National Taiwan
University Hospital, the officer did not survive.

Initial reports indicate he was in normal spirits and had maintained good
relationships with his colleagues.

The officer was actively on duty and had left his post after receiving a
personal phone call from his mother around noon.

The incident is under investigation to determine the underlying causes.
