VR Lets You Feel Pain

Have you ever tried VR? VR means 'virtual reality.'

You put a special mask over your eyes, and you can see a new world. A 3D
virtual world!

VR looks so real! You can play many different VR games… and you feel like
you are inside the game! VR games can be really fun!

But, I don't like a new idea from one VR company.

One VR company now has an armband that lets you feel pain! Ouch!

So, if you are playing a VR game like VR baseball, if the VR ball hits you,
the armband will give you a small electric shock, so that it feels like you
got hit by a ball.

Hmmm, maybe that feels more real, but I don't like electric shocks!

I like another idea. You wear special gloves, and the gloves make you feel
like you are holding something or touching something.

The gloves are cool, but electric shocks? No, thank you!

But, maybe other people will like the new armband VR idea.

Maybe some people will like it because they want to make the VR game feel
super real.

An Air-Con You Can Wear!

Taiwan gets very hot in the summer.

I like the summer, but it is so hot! Sometimes after just a short walk… I'm
dripping with sweat!
台灣的夏天非常熱，走路幾分鐘就滿頭大汗！

Most of us use air conditioners at home in the summer. But what about when
you go out for a walk? You could carry a small fan, or a bottle of water…
but… I want an "air con", or air conditioner, I can wear!

Does that sound silly? Well, guess what? A company has just made the world's
first air conditioner you can wear!
有一家公司做出來世界第一個可以穿戴的冷氣機！

It looks a little like a dog collar. You wear it around your neck, and it
blows cold air up to your head!
它長得像狗項圈，戴在脖子上，它會朝著你的頭吹冷風。

So when you are walking in the hot sun you can keep nice and cool… Ahhh!

It is much smaller and lighter than the air-conditioner in your home… phew!
That would be too heavy to carry on your neck!

This air-con has a very strong, very tiny fan… but it's not just a fan. It
really blows out cold air… it's a real air conditioner! And, it's a smart
air conditioner too!

The wearable air con has a small computer inside it. This computer knows how
hot it is… so, it will blow out cold air on hot days… not-so-cold air on
not-so-hot days… and super cold air on super hot days!

Scientists Find the Oldest Galaxy in the Universe

I love looking up at the sky! When you look at the sky, what can you see?
看天空的時候，你們會看到什麼呢？

You might see an airplane, or a bird. What else can you see? Can you see the
Sun? Or the Moon? Or the stars? Well, scientists can see a lot more than you
and me!
科學家比我們可以看到更多東西！

When they are looking at the sky, scientists use a special tool called a
'telescope'. This helps them to see things that are really far away. The
bigger the telescope, the more they can see!
科學家會用天文望遠鏡觀察外太空，望遠鏡越大就可以看得越遠。

The universe is super big, and it is made of lots of places. We call these
places 'galaxies'. Our planet is in a galaxy too, called The Milky Way. We
share our galaxy with the Sun, and the Moon.

Using their very big telescope, scientists have looked far out into space.
And now, they have found a new galaxy! They think it is the oldest and
biggest galaxy they have ever seen!

Living near a Park Is Healthy

Hey, kids! Do you think it's healthier to live in a loud, busy city. Or is it
healthier to live near a nice, quiet park?

Scientists in Spain say that people who live close to parks are healthier.
西班牙的科學家發現，住在公園附近的人比較健康。

They found that people are 16 percent less likely to have a stroke if they
live close to a park.

What is a stroke? It is a very serious thing that happens to someone when
they don't get enough oxygen in their brain.

Oxygen is in the air, so if you live somewhere where the air is clean you
will have more oxygen.

How close to a park do you need to live? Yes, the scientists know that, too!
The number is 300 meters.

So, people who live 300 meters or less from a park are healthier. They are

It's healthier because the air is cleaner around a park. There are no cars in
a park, and there are lots of trees around to help clean the air.

Sailing in Space on Sunlight

Hey there! Today it is so easy to travel far away. We can go around the world
very fast, using airplanes! But that's not how people have always traveled…

A long time ago, people used wind power to cross the oceans. Those old ships
had sails to catch the wind and push the ship forward.

Now they're doing the same thing with ships in outer space!

But… there isn't any wind in outer space.
